LCHKSLutheran Church-Missouri Synod sent missionaries to China in 1913 to carry out evangelistic work at ports along the Yangtze River in Hubei and Sichuan, and formed the "Chinese Evangelical Road Virtue Association." In 1949, American missionaries returned to China one after another; while they were passing through Hong Kong, waiting for the return journey by boat and plane, God showed them the refugees, living in poverty, and losing their souls. As a result, they responded to God's call and resolutely stayed in Hong Kong to carry out evangelism and relief work, forming the future "Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Hong Kong Mission" (Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Hong Kong Mission). At first, missionaries built temporary sunflower sheds in Tiu Keng Leng to hold meetings to serve nearby refugees; then they opened Bible colleges to train priests. In the following year, rented No. 232 Tai Po Road, Kowloon to establish the first church and hold a Mandarin-Cantonese gathering. After that, the association spread the gospel through street evangelism, hospital visits, and opening Sunday schools. The number of believers increased day by day, and churches and mission centers were established in various districts.

In 1953, the Association opened its first middle school. Since the 1960s, the Association has successively opened a number of primary schools and kindergartens to provide students with a Christian whole-person education. On the other hand, the school has also become a base for the gospel, and churches and evangelists have used their school premises as their premises to actively carry out student gospel work.

Since assisting refugees in the 1950s, the Association has been committed to the development of social welfare work. By 1977, the Hong Kong Lutheran Social Service Office was established. In the same year, the association developed from a mission district to a local independent church and registered as the "Lutheran Church-Hong Kong Synod" (Hong Kong Lutheran Church), establishing a partnership with the American Lutheran Church.

Since then, the association has continued to develop evangelism, education and social service, established churches and evangelistic centers, and opened new schools and social service units. So far, the association has more than 9,000 members, including 33 churches, 8 missions; more than 50 primary and secondary schools and kindergartens, more than 1,000 faculty members and more than 20,000 students; and more than 40 social service units ; There are also nine support organizations.

I hope that with the blessing of God, the Hong Kong Lutheran Society can continue to develop, spread the gospel, cultivate believers, educate the community, and serve the society.
